Prof. Dr. Klaus Kümmerer, the founder of EDC, studied chemistry in Würzburg and Tübingen and completed an additional training in ecology. He received his doctorate in 1990 from the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen. Subsequently he became a manager in a private commercial research institution. He was awarded the title of professor in 1999 in the areas of environmental chemistry and environmental hygiene at the Albert Ludwig University in Freiburg. He has been a professor at the Department of Environmental Health Sciences at the University Medical Centre Freiburg since 2005.

EDC stands for Evaluation and Design of Chemicals.
EDC is an experienced and competent partner for the evaluation of existing chemicals and the targeted design, improvement, and optimization of chemicals and active pharmaceutical ingredients. For this purpose we use computer-based methods for the calculation of substance properties, targeted research and experimental expertise.
In addition we offer consultation and training about hazardous waste materials and the hazardous material ordinance.
The founder and the employees of EDC possess many years experience in the named topic areas.
EDC is a spin-off from the University Medical Centre Freiburg.
